Safe as houses

Ho, ho, ho, the holidays are coming, as that well-known beverage always reminds us. It’s the season when we tend to be busier than ever, whether it’s time spent shopping for gifts for loved ones, days and evenings out enjoying Christmas shows and events, or spending time with friends and family. Sadly, it’s also the time when less welcome visitors tend to come creeping, and reports of opportunist burglaries appear in the press.

Without trying to appear sensationalist, it’s important to think about home security and while we can invest in high-tech alarm systems, a simple and often overlooked aspect of home security are the strength and locks on your windows and doors.

Older sash and wooden casement doors and windows are pretty easy to lever open and single glazing will present no challenge to the average thief. Modern glass is far stronger, by comparison, and double glazing obviously provides two panes of glass to get through – a real deterrent to burglars. As one police officer once told me, given a choice, a burglar will always opt for the house that is the easiest to get into.

Don’t worry if you are trying to protect the integrity of your property’s appearance – from replacement sash and Crittall windows, to complex designs, we have the knowledge, expertise and product range to create a glazing solution to suit every home.

The other advantage which modern double glazed windows and doors have is that they incorporate advanced locking systems which will provide added security. Give us a call and we’ll happily visit your home to demonstrate how the locks on our products help to keep intruders out.

May I also take this opportunity to wish you and your family a joyous Christmas and a happy new year.
