It was a scorcher! We really can’t complain about the heat we’ve enjoyed this summer, and although we can hope that the fair weather heralds a good winter to follow, we are sure to experience some rain, wind and cooler climes in the months ahead.

Just as we dig out our winter coats, hats and gloves as the seasons turn, it makes sense to ensure that our homes are ready to brave the elements too. One thing I always suggest at the first fall of heavy rain or on gusty day is to head outside and check that your guttering is up to scratch. If not and there are signs of damp on your home’s fascia, it’s time to consider a repair or replacement to your roofline.

Similarly, a breezy day can often reveal some shocking draughts through windows or doors which, left unattended, can see your heating bills soar during winter. There are a wide range of options to suit all budgets, so whether you need a budget solution or are looking for timber-effect sash replacement windows for a period property, we can create a stylish solution.

It’s not just your home which may need weatherproofing for winter. Be sure to check that outhouses with flat roofs and garage doors are watertight and prepared for all that mother nature can throw at them.

If you would like a free, no-obligation quote to get your home in tip-top shape for the season ahead, give us a call – we’d love to help.

Well, it’s hard to believe that it’s been 50 years this month, since our father took the decision to go into business and launch West Norfolk Glass. That year England won the World Cup, Harold Wilson announced the UK was to apply for EEC membership (least said about that the better!) and The Beatles released Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, so 1967 was clearly an auspicious year.

The intervening 50 years have seen us grow as a glazing firm, mirroring the development of the double and triple glazing industry, and the evolution of home improvement.

Today, we offer an incredible range of windows, doors, conservatories, orangeries, flat roofing, garage doors and car ports to suit all properties and budgets, but we recently had a call asking if we still cut glass. The answer is an unequivocal, ‘Yes!’

Our glass is cut on site and we supply glass for a wide range of uses and installations. In addition to glazing for pictures and mirrors, we offer specialist glass including smoked glass. We have created beautiful glass installations in homes including glass balustrades and balconies to stylish yet practical kitchen splashbacks and bespoke bathroom shower doors.

For outside use and construction, we can supply toughened and structural glass, including curved glass, and we can work with your architect and contractor to help create your dream home. No job is too small, and we even provide replacement ceramic glass for wood burners, so check if yours need fixing before you put it into use this autumn.

We love a creative challenge, and with 50 years’ experience we’ve got a pretty good track record, so if you’re looking to update your home this season, give us a call or visit our Hereford Way showroom.
